Vita

Dr. Matthias Hauser has been working part-time at the Center for Sustainable Leadership since February 2020. He studied chemistry in Bonn and Würzburg and then completed his doctorate in biology in the field of plant physiology in 1996. Directly aterwards he worked for an international consumer goods company for 23 years, initially in the R&D department as a product developer responsible for the development of cosmetic products for children. This was followed by the management of the analytics laboratory and the development of innovative technologies for wet wipes and applicators for the skin care of babies and adults. This work resulted in nine patents.
Over the past twelve years, Dr. Hauser has been the scientific link between global R&D and the German subsidiary. In this role, he was responsible for internal and external science communication and, as part of the crisis management team, for monitoring business-relevant topics and preparing statements on ingredients and products.
This work included the conception and implementation of numerous scientific presentations, the planning of studies at external institutes and publications in international journals, as well as coordinating the sustainability program for the German headquarters since 2009. This began with an initial sustainability check and the creation of a roadmap and a sustainability brochure and led, among other things, to a campus-wide carbon footprint and successful certification according to the ZNU standard in 2017 and the implementation of follow-up audits until 2019. Most recently, he gained experience in the field of life cycle assessment of feminine hygiene products.
Also is he an active member of the sustainability working group of the German Brands Association and the scientific advisory board of NaTrue (international natural cosmetics association) for many years. He has a broad network of NGOs and associations in the fields of health, hygiene and cosmetics.
